About
Not Everyone Who Freedives Is Actually Free
my story
My name is Alexandre Latour and I am fascinated by what can be achieved with the breath. Originally from Mauritius, I travel the world teaching people how to breathe properly and how to hold their breath.
A yoga and pranayama teacher turned freediving instructor, since 2018 I have been pioneering the development of freediving in Mauritius, India and more recently Zanzibar.
While I first trained as an AIDA freediver and PADI freediving instructor, after years of dedicated personal training I gained access to knowledge and developed skills that these freediving courses never covered, turning me into the accomplished freediver that I am today.
If in the beginning, I enjoyed every moment of teaching PADI freediving courses to my students, I started to feel that teaching within their course content and standards was restricting both the progression of my students and my expression as a teacher.
Honoring the “free” part of freediving, I took a leap of faith and chose to teach in my own way. One that is fueled by over 15 years of combined teaching experience and the philosophy that a good teacher renders himself progressively unnecessary, by teaching someone not just how to do something but also to understand the how, why, what, and when of that thing.
